Winter Skills Courses

Our winter skills courses are held in Snowdonia and Scotland with one and two day courses available. Venturing out during winter brings different challenges to summer conditions. Not only does the weather tend to be more challenging but the physical demands are also greater. We will show you how to plan a winter's journey. what to wear and carry and how to navigate in winter whilst choosing safe routes. We will cover the use of crampons, ice axe and how to select winter clothing and equipment. You will learn about planning a winter walk, winter weather, and develop a good awareness of winter conditions and how they affect walkers on the mountains. Avalanche awareness will be a constant theme both in theory and practise. By the end of the course you will feel confident to have your own winter adventures!

Our winter skills courses are instruction only but include the hire of a helmet, ice axe and crampons. You will need your own winter boots.

Winter skills Snowdonia- these are one and two day courses designed to give you a taste of winter walking and perhaps consolidate or refresh existing personal skills.
