Snowdon in Winter
We headed to Snowdon for our latest Winter Skills day. An hour's theory indoors gave us a good foundation where we looked at planning a winter's walk as well as clothing and equipment. We then headed out to Pen y Pass using the Sherpa bus service. The recent freeze / thaw cycle on the mountains meant that any snow left was well consolidated and also firm underfoot! This gave Ieuan and Gruff an early opportunity to learn and practise the use of good movement skills and the use of ice axe and crampons. Although the weather clagged in for the morning it gave up beautiful views for the descent route - a fiting finale to another wonderful Winter outing!!
