This long distance path takes you through the heart of the North Wales slate quarrying industry. You'll journey along trails that were once walked by the quarrymen who worked in the quarries and old slate buildings, that mark our circular route. The mountains that surround us and the valleys that we walk along provide a backdrop that reminds us of how beautiful the area of North Wales is and how lucky we are to see the remnants of a once thriving industry. Your guide will be someone who has their roots in the communities that you pass through and will provide a unique and quality experience including the pronunciation of place names, rich tales of local history and will describe the timeless bond that exists between Welsh people and slate.

Guided Walk Reviews

Four of us walked a section of the Slate Trail (Capel Curig to Bethesda) yesterday with Steve as our guide. It was a wonderful day. It is a fairly flat section, 12 miles long. The scenery was, of course, stunning - and varied. What made this special, though, was the unique local knowledge that only someone like Steve can add. We learned so much about the flora and fauna, natural history and social history. This was our second walk guided by Anelu Aim Higher, and it won't be our last. Our entire experience was first class. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have been on guided hikes in the Snowdonia mountains before, this time it was different; Snowdonia is Stephen's childhood playground, he helps you see the mountains through a different, fascinating and beautiful lense.I was blessed to see the famed wild Carneddau ponies. If you want to do more than just visit and summit a peak, I can't recommend Stephen enough. He is clearly a professional, accomplished mountaineer and instructor but also part of this community, you get a window into all that is magical about North Wales, Snowdonia National Park and the community that lives there. I'll be back!!
