Course Description

Starting fires can be a quick process or very long and tiring! We'll show you the efficient methods of sourcing materials and getting your fire started. There are different methods to start a fire and we'll cover the more common ones. Once we have fire and shelter we can look at campcraft whilst roasting marshmallows!

During the session we'll discuss best practise when lighting fires outdoors, individual and group safety, looking after nature and how best to use your new skills. Each person also gets a certificate to remind them of their experience.

Our sessions normally run from 9.30am to 12.30pm but we can arrange alternative times to suit your group.

The cost is an inclusive day rate which means when you book, it is exclusively booked for you alone or for you and up to 5 additional members of your group. This means unlike other companies, we won't cancel your booking because of insufficient numbers. We keep our ratios low so that you get a personal, quality experience and whether you are a solo traveller or you bring some friends along, we'll make sure that you are looked after.

Note: All our staff are qualified, knowledgeable and will always strive to give you the best experience coupled with ensuring your safety.

Course Reviews

I couldn’t recommend this experience enough. From start to finish we were well looked after by Steve. He made my son (9) and I (36) very welcome and comfortable even in these new circumstances we all find ourselves in with a certain virus. We both learned so much within the time despite having vastly different levels of experience. It was engaging for us both and most importantly great fun. We learned practical skills with expert guidance, knowledgeable explanations and all with safety and responsibility at the forefront. We’re far more confident to head out into the wild and do some real adventuring now! Thanks Steve!

Myself and my two boys had an amazing experience, we had a few problems in the morning with the car and Steve helped us out massively and looked after us above and beyond. The experience was brilliant, my youngest is 7 and he totally engaged with him and brought things down to his level. Will most definitely book something else with Steve in the future as we all left wanting to learn more. We can’t thank Steve enough for a superb day out!"

Steve was superb including his knowledge, friendliness and we were really looked after. Both myself and my two daughters enjoyed the day immensely. Left wanting to come back again and do more, learn more and build on what we did today. Superb setting and really well run day. Highly recommend.

This was a totally fun morning for our family of four. We had mixed previous experience of the outdoors and Stephen made us all feel competent. He is a patient and helpful teacher. It was lovely to learn a little about stephen’s background too.
